Week 6 Portfolio

Inspiration:

This week i really wanted to start nailing down my finals and editing them. I had originally planned to only print 8 photos in total but it may now be 10 photos cause i've managed to pick out a few more possible pairs.

I pirinted off a contact sheet of all my images and seperated them into nature and people, i then layed them all out on a white piece of paper and tried to narrow down a selected few.

I want to use 4 key parts of the body, the skin, the eye, the mouth and the fingers.

Here is the first pair, I took a picture of a flower and decided fingers/fingertips would be a good connection but it isnt a definate final. I positioned my hand as best i could while holding the camera in my other hand. I like how this image came out cause of the similar black backgrounds and the way my fingers are similar to the petals on the flower above.

This is the second pairing, I was looking at skin. This isnt a final pairing just a test of what could compare well to eachother. Im not sure about this pair yet as i have more shooting to do. But i like the similar textures and light thats on both these images, and i like how you cant really tell what the bottom image is. I think i could find a way to make these images more similar in colour cause colour was one of the connections i was looking at.

This is the third pairing, i like the eye image but when i blow it up it come out blurry and noisy. Im also not happy with the flower as the light and how low quality it was when i blew it up was all wrong. I think im going to have to try and find another comparison for the eyey and i might have to shoot the eye again.

This is the fourth pairing, I wanted to include the mouth cause the flower reminded me of a mouth. Im not to sure about this one either as i still have photos to take.

Change Of Plan

I chose to only use 6 images in total, so 3 pairs. This was because my wall space wasnt long enough and the final images i chose worked well together.

This is the first final pairing, i Love these 2 images together cause of the shape and the similar textures between the 2. The colour tones are also similar which helps to connect the images. I had to brighten these images so that they would stand out better against the matte paper and not loose the colourings in the images. 

This is the second paring, I like these two images together as well cause of the similar contrasting light and the connection with a black background and how my finger-tips mimic the flowers petals. I did brighten these images up just in case so that the matte paper didnt end up making the images look dull.

This is my final paring, i love the connection between each of these images. The main thing in this photo which stands out to me is the similarities in the vein, i also plan to set these two images up like this cause it looks like my vein is running into the leaf which to me is a really strong connection. I also like how they have similar colour tones.
