Week 5 Visit
Week 5 Visit - Connor Clarke
Conner Clarke is a New Zealand photographer based in Germany, She is currently doing Residency at Waitawa Regional Park in Auckland. She shoots alot of landscapes of sites that have to do with mining and construction. She has displayed her work in gallerys all over Berlin and New Zealand.
These images make me feel interested as well as somewhat cold, I love how at first glance the piles of earth look like actual mountains at first but then you ssee the tire tracks and you reilize there not real mountains. The middle image is a good example of tricking the eye, It looks like a mountain but its really a close up of a pile of either earth or salt.
Response - These images were taken on my phone
In the last image you can see the island which is being mined, this island is what Conor is shooting. She said its something that will be gone in a year or so and the style of this project it was right up her ally. There are no images out yet of the island but hopefully will be shortly.

Week 8 Cutting and Hanging
Week 8 - Cutting and Hanging
I chose to hang my images horizonal, I made sure there was an even distance between each of the diptiches. Between each paring it was 3cm and between each diptich was 20cm. I personally like how it came out and how it looks, even though i wish the actual image was bigger i am happy with how it came out. I chose to hang them in a white light area, cause i dont like the tungsten light on the images cause last time i had a detailed image under the tungsten light it took away the colours and detail.
When i was hanging i experimented with different distances and different ways to hang the images. I decided to turn them all into portraits cause it fits nicer and it put another twist on my images.

Week 7 Portfolio
Genre: macroPhotography/Creative fine Art/Fine Art
Idea:
My idea is still the same, i want to chose images that show a connection between Humans and Earth and how even though we all were completly different theres still a connection in the detail from our skin and other parts.
I spent most of week 7 and 6 narrowing down my final images for print, I printed off my group of finals on the normal printer and taped them to the wall, I experimented with the different ways to hang the images (portrait or Horizontal), I also turned some around to make the images look more mysterious and a odd way of viewing the body part compared to how you'd normally view it. I Also decided what order to hang the images in and how the order of the images is going to effect the flow of the images.
Unfortunately i forgot to take photos of my experimentation with the hanging and the way they were going to be viewed. But will try to get some kind of proof that i was experimenting.
When i print my final images im going to have a big canvas around the image so it can add to the idea that it's still MacroPhotography.

For this image i didn't do much except what you can see. i upped the vibrance so that the flower didn't look dull against the matte paper and bought up the contrast to match the pair (FINGERTIPS) |

For this image i also bought up the viberance so that it didn't look dull against the matte paper. I wanted to make sure this image had the same colour tones as its pair; the wrist. |

This image is with a wider canvas, making the image almost square, I think the image as a whole was 40cm by 45cm in hight. I didnt like this canvas size. |

I then experimented with a more Narrow canvas size, I think this one was 25cm by 45cm. I dont mind this ones shape but i found it a lil too narrow for my liking. |

week 6 pres
Week 6 Presentation Ideas
I finally chose my 6 images in total and have decided to hang them in a horizontal line across the wall in diptiches.
I want to have even spacing between each image and each diptich. I think this would go with my idea of connection because you hopefully will be able to see a connection as you move down the images.
I found this image on google and it had the same idea of connection between us and nature, which led me to find the photographer Bob Towery. He only has one image like this cause it was for a one off project but the layout was exactly how i want to present mine on the wall.

Week 6 visit
Week 6 - Aaron K /AIPA
What is the AIPA?
- The Advertising and Illustrative Photographers Association (AIPA) was founded in the spring of 1978 by a small group of Auckland photographers who felt there was a need for more communication with regard to issues specific to commercial photography. This founding group knew that people working in the advertising and editorial fields were very individualistic characters (i.e. non-joiners of traditional groups) so the rules and aims of the association were framed to allow for that independence and to concentrate only on these areas of the photographic industry.

This founding group knew that people working in the advertising and editorial fields were very individualistic characters (i.e. non-joiners of traditional groups) so the rules and aims of the association were framed to allow for that independence and to concentrate only on these areas of the photographic industry.
The original aims of the association include:
- To promote higher standards in commercial photography.
- To advance and sponsor advertising and illustrative photography as a means of communication and expression.
- To actively assist those people working in these areas whose ideals are sympathetic to those of the association through publications, workshops, exhibitions and other means.
- To promote and cultivate public interest in photography both as an art form and a communication medium.
- Alongside these original aims the AIPA has evolved to incorporate additional areas of focus.
Of primary concern is the issue of copyright. AIPA has determined to become a strong advocate for law change in this area, as well as supporting photographers in their individual decisions to contract out of the current copyright law. AIPA has drawn up standard terms and conditions and a licence form for use by all photographers in order to facilitate this.
Education for current and future photographers has also become a priority for the AIPA. Informative and inspirational seminars are now a regular part of the yearly calendar for members, and are also open to all photographers at a slightly higher fee.

Week 6 Port
Week 6 Portfolio
Inspiration:
This week i really wanted to start nailing down my finals and editing them. I had originally planned to only print 8 photos in total but it may now be 10 photos cause i've managed to pick out a few more possible pairs.
I pirinted off a contact sheet of all my images and seperated them into nature and people, i then layed them all out on a white piece of paper and tried to narrow down a selected few.
*image to come
I want to use 4 key parts of the body, the skin, the eye, the mouth and the fingers.
Change Of Plan
I chose to only use 6 images in total, so 3 pairs. This was because my wall space wasnt long enough and the final images i chose worked well together.

Presentation Ideas - Week 5
I was looking at printing at least 10 or 12 images in a formal looking way, so that you can tell each set of images has a connection and you wont confuse them with the other images.

week 4 - Portfolio
Week 4 - Portfolio
Genre: Macro, Fine Arts/Creative Fine art photography
Why i changed
I was happy with my previous shoots but wasn't fully satisfied so after i saw Aaron Mcleans work 'Abundance' i instantly fell in love with the idea and my interpertation of this project which is a connection between us, Humans and Nature its self.
Plan for photoshoot:
I plan to try some Macro photography . I want to try and capture some connections between plant textures and peoples skin, hair, clothing, I want to have the connection that were apart of nature; That were made up of the same textures. I borrowed the 100mm macro lens and am going to shoot over the weekend. I plan to use the forest, a local duck pond and a reserve. I want to keep the dark background look, i could do this by picking the plant/flower and setting it up against a black backdrop. i want to use ambiant light as well.
inspiration
I want to take inspiration from Aaron Mclean's work, he's a New Zealander who has done macro photography. The images below are from his project 'Abundance'. I feel like Aaron was trying to get the idea that seeds, comparing them to people, Can continue to grow in abundance even though in this case the plants would die but the seeds go on and start again. Same with humans, if we die then our children will still go on in 'Abundance'
