week 3 portfolio t2

Week 3 portfolio T2

Genre: Creative fine arts/portraiture

plan for photoshoot

I want to try something different but still try shooting a subject, so this time im doing a still shoot after seeing a wedding photographers work. my plan is to go to Kariotahi beach around the evening and do the shoot from up on the cliffs. Im handmaking my own dress with fabric from spotlight and im going to try and make my model look part of the land kind of thing. For this shoot i want capture the beach behind her and the cliffs that run along the beach and im going to use the wind to make her look elegant.

Insperation:

Jose Villa is my insperation for this shoot, He is a wedding/portraiture photographer from U.S.A and i love this elegant and beautiful images. the photos below are from one of his wedding shoots called "Greek Goddess"

Why i changed

As much as i liked the first shoot's images i wanted to try an actual portraiture/fashion shoot, I took Insperation from Jose Villa this time.

My Photos

The photos below had to be all brightened cause the weather want good and they were really dark.

f/9.0  Shutter: 1/125  ISO:100

This photo didnt really stand out to me before i showed the class, but now that i lightened it up i like it alot more. It looks like her dress is apart of the mountain from the way it flows.  Unlike last weeks shoot i used a fast shutter speed rather than a slow one to try and capture the flowing movements of the fabric against the wind, I could of tried a higher ISO to see if that would of changed anything.

f/4.5  Shutter: 1/125  ISO: 100

I used a f-stop of 4.5 to try and help more light and more focus into the photo, so that the image as a whole was fully focused and i used the same fast shutter speed of 1/125.  I quite liked this one cause of the natural position her hands were in and how she wasnt looking at the camera, I still managed to capture the beach and cliffs behind her which was one of my main goals.
f/5.0  Shutter:1/125 ISO:100

Photo 1 out of 2 are were i experimented with black and white, i wanted ti see if changing them B&W would change the overall feel of the images. i really like this image as itself and i think i like it a little more in B&W.
f/5.6  Shutter:1/125  ISO:100

Photo 2 out of 2 is ther other B&W test, i still really like this photo both B&W and normal colours but once again i prefer the B&W images a little more. My settings were still basically the same.

f/4.5  Shutter: 1/125  ISO: 100

This photo was shoot from a different angle, were you cant see much of the beach at all but i stil like the way it came out, once again i used a shutter speed of 1/125 and a f-stop of 4.5.

f/4.5  Shutter: 1/125  ISO: 100

I really like this shot cause of the way shes holding herself and the way she isnt looking at the camera, I think i could of used a little faster shutter speed to try and get rid of some motion blur on her dress so that the whole photo is frozen, but the bit of motion blur adds a little character. I also added the flower prop to experiment with colour.

f/5.6  Shutter:1/125  ISO:100

I quite like this medium crop, the expression on her face is what i wanted to achieve but theres not much of the beach  behind her.  I used the fast shutter speed again so that the image was frozen and a wide DOF so that the whole scene was in focus. It would of been cool to have one or two photos with a slower shutter speed just for fun.

f/5.0  Shutter:1/125 ISO:100

I like this image cause she's not looking at the camera and that gives quite an myserious feel to this image, she looks like she's done something wrong or is thinking about stuff. This was experimenting without the flower and i think i prefer the images with out the flower but then again some of the images with the flower came out nice.

f/10.0 Shutter:1/160 ISO: 100

I threw this one in for fun, Cause we were up on a hill top on a very windy beach my model got cold really quick and i caught her like this. I think it adds character to the image.

f/10.0 Shutter:1/160 ISO: 100

This image is cool cause she looks like she has no leg when you look through the fabric thats blowing, I experimented with both portraits and lanscapes for this shoot. I like how you can see the beach clearly as well.
