Week 4 Artist Research - Seydou Keita

Seydou Keïta (born 1921 in BamakoMali, was a self-taught portrait photographer from Bamako. He is mostly known for his portraits of people and families he took between 1940 and the early 1960s and that are widely acknowledged not only as a record of Malian society but also as pieces of art. 

Seydou's portraits to me had more pattern and disturbed patterns than leading lines in them. For example the first photo we see the 3 men wearing the same colours, but the way he placed them created a pattern. This is the same in photo 4, 3 and 2. The way Seydou places and dresses his subjects is how he makes his work unique.
